Timespade

Timespade's finance co-founder team prepares businesses to raise money and to scale: unit economics, financial models, pitch decks, data rooms, introductions to investors the team knows, and hiring and operations as the company grows. Timespade takes no equity and no fee tied to money raised. Its founders have raised from angels, VC funds, private equity and corporates for companies they founded.

How we prepare

What you get

Six things off your plate

Gets the business ready for investors and for scale, whether you raise money or fund it yourself.

Business model

Pricing and profit per customer that work before real money goes in.

Financial model

Forecasts an investor can test without finding holes.

Pitch deck

A story that explains the business in the first two minutes.

Data room

Contracts, ownership records and tech documents ready before anyone asks.

Investor introductions

Introductions to angels and funds we know, once the business is ready.

Hiring and operations

The people, processes and tools to run a bigger company.

#NUMBERS

Every customer has to pay back what they cost

It's the first thing an investor checks, and the first thing that sinks a business you fund yourself. We work out what a customer costs to win, what they bring in each month and how long they stay.

Every example on this page follows Limber, a made-up home physio service.

$75$25 a month

One Limber customer

Costs $75 to win. Brings in $25 profit a month.

Drag the slider to try it.

If customers leave before month 3, every sale loses money.
#CASH

Will the money last until sales cover your costs?

Savings or an investor's cheque, the question is the same. Often the fix is simply changing the order you spend in.

Will the money last?

Same $180k in the bank, same product. Only the order of spending changes.

Example
Out of money$200k$100k$0-$100kTodayM3M6M9M12M15M18Out of cash, month 8

Two hires in the first months. The cash runs out in month 8, eight months before sales would have covered the costs.

#PREPARE

Answers ready before investors ask

Investors give a pitch deck a few minutes. Each slide answers a question they already have, and a shared folder of documents, the data room, backs up every claim.

Why now?

Slide 1 of 8 answers

"Is this a real problem?"

  1. The problem: Patients skip physio when the clinic is a drive away. Answers: Is this a real problem?
  2. What Limber does: A licensed physio at your door, booked in a minute. Answers: What exactly do you do?
  3. Why now: Home visits became normal. Booking them never got easier. Answers: Why hasn't anyone fixed this?
  4. The market: Start with one city. Then every city like it. Answers: How big can this get?
  5. Traction: Bookings, month on month. Answers: Is anyone actually paying?
  6. Business model: $75 to win a customer. Paid back in month 3. Answers: Does each customer make money?
  7. The team: Two physios and an operator who has run clinics before. Answers: Why are you the ones to do it?
  8. The ask: Enough for 18 months. Here is where it goes. Answers: What will the money pay for?

Paperwork with no surprises

Deals often fall apart late, when investors go through the paperwork. We find the gaps while there's still time to fix them.

Fewer investors, better matched

A deck emailed to two hundred strangers mostly gets silence. We shortlist the angels and funds that back businesses like yours, at your stage, and introduce you to the ones we know.

Whether they invest is their call. We take no cut of what you raise.

Good news: two orthopaedic clinics now send us every knee patient.

Bad news: our first salesperson left after six weeks. We're hiring again.

How you can help: introductions to surgeons in new cities.

The bad news goes in too. That's how investors learn to trust you.

FAQs

Questions about the finance co-founder

No. We take no equity and no fee tied to the money you raise. You keep 100% of your company.

No one honestly can. We make the business and the pitch as strong as they can be and introduce you to investors who back companies like yours. Whether they invest is their call.

Many of the business owners we work with fund the company themselves. Then this work becomes a plan for spending your own money well: what to build first, what to hold back and when the company starts paying for itself.

A few months before you need the money. An early, short catch-up lets an investor watch you hit the targets you told them about, and that counts for more than any slide. We start those conversations once your numbers hold up.

No. They still sign off on tax, legal and company filings. We build the model, the plan and the paperwork investors ask for, and work alongside them.

Angels, early-stage funds and corporate investors we've raised from or worked with over the years. Who we introduce you to depends on your sector and stage.
